30-Day Angel of Darkness Challenge Day 6: Most Hated Level?

Yesterday we praised our favorite Angel of Darkness levels. Today's question covers the flip side: Which level do you hate the most and why? I've heard from a few players who've never finished the game because one level or another was too hard, crashed the game repeatedly, or just caused them to lose interest. How about you? Please add a comment below or, if you're doing the challenge on your own blog, post a link to your response for today.

  1. You probably guessed mine from the screenshot, and I imagine quite a few of you feel the same way. Poor Kurtis. He's so brave, but he handles like an ice cream truck with 3 flat tires. That and the tricky, unexplained controls, plus the slowdown a lot of PC players experienced when the green goo started flying all adds up to a very bad time. :(

  2. I liked Boaz Returns, but at the same time, I've also hated it. Exactly for the same reasons as Stella. And because of this level, my father gave up on the game... and he was so close to the end of it... I'm very sad that he'll never know what happened to Kurtis...

  3. Any water level (escpecially the Aquatic Research Area) really bothered me, and any dark level where I couldn't see where Lara was walking made me upset.
The most hated level(s) stretched from the Archaeological Dig to the red ghost that guards the painting in the hall of seasons.

  4. Yups. Boaz Returns. It's not that you had to play as Kurtis or that the Boaz Monster wasn't a good boss, but the controls were a bit peculiar. Having said that this is the only place I had a problem with the controls and even then it wasn't as aggrevating as trying to get some of the QTEs to work in CD games.

  5. Mine too is Boaz Returns. This is the only level I had too many problems with. I hate handling Kurtis and I never knew that there was a "switch target" button to kill the 3 flaps on her body. I saw walkthroughs but they were all doing the same thing and not telling me what button to press. In the end I just gave up and when my dad came round to playing it he finished it first try. I had to skip the level! Now I can finish it with a breeze. Ooh so annoying!

  6. I really hate Boaz Returns because of everything everyone already said (the controls, the unexplained switch target button and so on) but I hate even more the Hall of Seasons, namely, the 4 levels associated with it. They were all extremely try and error (I'm talking to you Breath of Hades!!!) and I just wanted to rip my hair of! At least the other part of the Hall of Seasons is way better and less frustrating! Beside these two particular levels I pretty much enjoy all of the others

  8. Paris back streets. Your early levels are the most important, they have to really pull your players in and make them want to play the whole game. The Paris back streets are boring, they have lazy story elements, they have sloppy RPG elements and it's not a tomb. Even if Tomb Raider isn't putting you in an actual tomb, it should still put you in the wild somewhere, where you are on your own and having to fight to survive. Instead Lara's having a cat fight with a hooker and listening to awful dance music.

  9. Boaz Returns. I had to go outside to calm down during this one or I would probably have broken my keyboard...

  10. Boaz Returns without a doubt, absolutely infuriating.

  11. The ghost-guradian level where you had to shot it, make it freeze for a few seconds and run for the damn painting. If you`re 8 years old and have no damn idea about PC games or english vocabulary or internet walkthroughs and the terrible camera&controls don't help you to realize that the painting stops changing places when the ghost is frozen, well, it makes you quit the game.
