Lara Croft works alone...except when she doesn't. She's had help from friends and colleagues over the years, from Werner Von Croy's mentorship in
The Last Revelation to Zip and Alister's support in
Legend and
Underworld. Now it looks like she'll have a veritable posse of new friends in the upcoming game.
We've talked about
enemies and adversaries before, but who's your favorite ally or supporting character from the TR universe and why?
Today's challenge topic is based on suggestions from Jason and Chris.

For me, it's Winston in the classic Core Design games. He didn't have much to say, but what he lacked in chattiness he more than made up for in loyalty. No matter how many times you locked him in the freezer or shot at him, he'd still be back with tea and rude noises the next time you visited Croft Manor.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I also liked Kurtis Trent, though I thought he was a little young for Lara.
I loved the whole Lara/Chase thing going on in the Tomb Raider comic series. Lara deserves a little romance in between adventures! Doesn't she? Chase is like the Tomb Raider equivalent to Nathan Drake. And everybody loves Nathan Drake.
ReplyDeleteI also loved Anaya Imanu from Legend. She was a really minor character, but I liked how she was different from all of Lara's English friends.
I really like Anaya Imanu she reminds me of lara just a diffrent version of her. She is brave and helped lara out in the road chase in Legend. I also like Jean-Yves from Revelations because he stuck with her and used all his knowledge to help her find what she needed. Lastly I liked Sergeant Azizus he may not have been in the game long but he sacrificed himself to kill the dragon which helped lara gain entry into the citadel. Those are my 3 fav minor characters.
ReplyDeleteNatla isn't a secondary character, so I can't nominate :). So I'll nominate the slightly bonkers and rather mysterious Amanda Evert. We'll never know how Natla and her came across one another. A story yet to be told :).
ReplyDeleteAlister. I dunno.. Guess I a have a thing for the otherwise useless academic type who like to lecture you on their subject and spend far to much time at the university writing their paper, eventually end up never leaving. Particularly if they have a British accent.
ReplyDeleteI do like Amanda as well.
My favourite secondary character would have to be Von Croy. He had a backstory, a motivation, he was still holding a grudge from when Lara left him in Angkor Wat, but I loved at the end of The Last Revelation where he offers to help Lara from the collapsing tomb.
ReplyDeleteI also quite liked the little humour between Alister and Lara when you were exploring Croft Manor. For example, you can shoot some planks of wood and he would get worried. :)
How about Father Patrick when Lara was just a
ReplyDeletekid in Ireland. He's easily my favorite secondary character. Came across as a down to
earth, believable character.
Haha, I also got the impression of Kurtis being a bit too young... But he is my favourite secondary character. :) I really wish they could've finished AoD so we would've seen more of him than in only three of the scariest and hardest levels so far... Anyway, he gets my vote!
ReplyDeleteI like Zip. He's my favourite!! x
ReplyDeleteI love what Zip and Alister brought to Legend. The constant chat over the headset really gave that game a special feel, I thought. That was the first TR game I played, and I was kind of disappointed when they werent' there in Anniversary.
ReplyDeleteFather Patrick because he talks down demons with sarcasm :p
ReplyDeleteGot to go with Stella on this one - Winston, the Butler.
ReplyDeleteA bit like Batman's butler, Alfred. A reliable constant throughout youth and maturity.
I'm not sure, I liked Kurtis (Not playing as him however) but I think I will also go with Winston. He does everything for Lara from making her tea to letting her shoot at him to let off some steam. He is just a great guy.
ReplyDeletedefinetely larson. nust coz the way he says things on anniversary like "damn" or "it didnt have to be this way". i9 just thinks hes kinda funny in a way i just wouldnt want to be on the other end of the shotgun he uses.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised a few like Father Patrick. He's a favourite. I kind of like Amanda too. Definately Kurt Trent too, he needs to return.
ReplyDeleteAmanda because crazy goth chicks have always ruled my life!
ReplyDeleteZip and Alister, I loved the chat over the headset in TRL.
ReplyDeleteGrim, Roth and Alister.
