Expanding a bit on yesterday's question, today we're wondering what's your favorite cutscene from the Tomb Raider series and why?

I couldn't possibly pick just one favorite, but I think one of the more fun and iconic is when Lara uses the elevator cable to whoosh up to the top of the Natla Industries tower. Equally exciting in TR1 and TRA. Love that one!
ReplyDeleteI also love the beginning to St Francis Folly, one of my other favorite cut-scenes is the one before Natla's Mines (I think) where Natla and her gang take the Scion and guns off Lara and she jumps off the cliff, then amazingly uses a bike stunt to climb onto their boat, perfect!
ReplyDeleteI freakin love the final cutscenes in tomb raider 2 after the bonus level at the end Laura ,in nothing but a very short and revealing blue robe fills the bathtub and is about to disrobe for a bath after her adventure but before she removes her robe she looks AT the screen and asks "don't you think you've seen enough" she then proceeds to pick up her shotgun cock it and shoot the screen
ReplyDeleteAs Stella said, I can't pick up just one cutscene. I like the one after the end of Thames Wharf when Lara fights that guy. It's really interesting and I adore how she shoots from the roof. I also like the cutscene after the end of The Great Wall in TR2. And the final cutscene in Legend where Lara sais Amanda: "Make sense right this second or I swear I'll execut you where you stand!"
ReplyDeleteI agree. There are so many cutscenes that I love, it's hard to pick just one. However, my vote would have to go to "A touch choice" from Tomb Raider Anniversary. I love how Lara shoots the Scion and Natla throws themselves off the platform and she uses her grapple to grab on to the ledge with the giant torso boss. Really badass! :)
ReplyDeleteAt the end of Tomb Of Qualopec after the first encounter with Larson and the one before Natla's Mines on the bike. They are awesome! Also agree with Jason Scott, that cutscene was absolutely badass!
ReplyDeleteI love the final cutscene in TR1 where Lara is running while the pyramid explodes in the background and then takes off on Natla's boat and sails into the Atlantean sunset.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite cutscene in TR1 is the cutscene where Lara is ambushed by Natla after The Sanctuary of the Scion, I just love the moment Lara pushes the Cowboy out the way and jumps of the cliff, a classic.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite from TR2 is the jeep chase, it's so full of action that I could watch it over and over again and never get bored.
My favorite from TR3 is the final custscene, it's so funny when the pilot smiles at Lara then she smiles back and then shoots him, lol.
My favorite from TR4 is the one after KV4, when Lara shoots the man with the bazooka, such a great moment in TR4.
And my favorite from TR5 is difficult, i'm torn between the Opera cutscene, Lara using her bincoulars to look at The Base, Lara entering VCI headquarters and escaping VCI headquarters, all such great moments in TR5.
Those are my favorite cutscenes in the first 5 Tomb Raiders.
I just can't pick! I love the cutscene between Lara and Sophia's henchman in the bell tower from Tomb Raider III. I love the cutscene from Chronicles where Lara tricks Pierre on the ledge. I love the cutscene at the end of Underworld with Lara and Amanda. There are just too many to choose from!
ReplyDeleteApart from the over-acting and the compression of far too much plot into one cutscene, I quite like the one in Underworld starting where Lara blows Mummy away.
ReplyDeletei miust say my favorite cutescene would has to be in Tomb Raider Underworld Where Lara Says her Doppelganger and thy fight(to be honest here they could of done a whole lot better with that cutescene as far as Lara Fighting Back atleast) my Second Favorite Cute Scence in underworld is at the end of the game when Lara Kills Natil and Throws the Hammer at her(Thats was Epic)
ReplyDeleteThe ending cut-scene from Tomb Raider Legend is probably my favorite. I really like the interaction between Lara and Amanda, and the way they act is just great! I also think that the way that this game ends, really leaves the player in great anticipation for a sequel.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this one is necessarily my favorite, but I do want to point out the cut scene that closes Legend, because it was acted brilliantly. I love how Lara ignores Zip and Alastir on the head set. It kind of shows that she really must do her adventures completely alone.

OOOO to this i have to leave a comment.....the most impressive scene ever....from all the tomb raiders.....is in Tomb Raider Anniversary after Lara kills the blond guy with the shotgun....in that cave...later in the game.. and he watches her hands for a few seconds regreting what she did....i was very impressed at that scene .....and that is the one i remeber from all the tomb raiders....
ReplyDeleteI liked the bit in tomb raider legend where Lara's in the dig site in Peru with the cut scene when she's being chased by the unknown entity because (though shown a lot in in the new tomb Raider) shows Lara in a vulnerable moment ,which is rare for the original series
ReplyDeletei liked the one at the end of tr 3 thames wharf level. especially when lara syas" well you might like to mind...the bell" and the man screams as he gets thrown of the ledge and then lara just goes"happy retirement" i love this bit. :D

ReplyDeleteThe FMV at the end of the Egypt levels in TR1, where lara escapes from Natla and his men jumping of the cliff and then using her bike to jump to the boat, is just epic.
ReplyDeleteFor humour it'd have to be the Pierre/Larson cutscene involving a milkshake and a horse in Streets of Rome from TR5 :p As for story then the cutscene in TR8 where Natla admits to killing Lara's father :)
ReplyDeleteI'd vote for the T-Rex FMV from Anniversary. It's quite epic seeing the size differential between Lara with her dual pistols in comparison to the T-Rex trying to stare her down.
