Tomb Raider 2 Now on Android

While most fans were distracted by all the hype surrounding the upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider  release, Square Enix stealthily dropped their brand new Tomb Raider II Android app in the Play Store. Like the Tomb Raider 1 app released earlier this year, this mobile port of the classic game includes updated graphics, touchscreen interface, and the Golden Mask expansion pack.

I've only had a chance to take a peek at the first level, but it looks pretty good—well worth the 99¢ price!

TR2 was previously released for Macintosh OSX and iOS, and it's still available for Windows PCs on Steam and GOG.com, and for PS3/PSP/Vita through the PlayStation Store.

As always, you can find my Tomb Raider 1 walkthrough and Golden Mask walkthrough in the usual place.

  1. It took me forever (roughly two months) but I have finally wrapped up my run through this version.

Happy to report Nightmare in Vegas is included and as usual only unlocks if you have the 12 secrets. It loads right after Kingdom though, so you start up with quite a hefty inventory (including invisible ammo, which you normally wouldn't find in that level, such as harpoons and grenades).

Unlike TR1, cheats also work normally (PC input).

Stella, I have promised you I'd do saves for these two games but I just don't think I have it in me to do a proper runthrough. The amount of human gunning enemies is too damn high, I don't think I had a total of 10 medipacks by the end of Dragon's Lair tbh. Pistols only would be impossible as well. Sorry I won't be fulfilling that promise. :|

    1. Congratulations! And no worries about the saves. Anyone brave enough to try and complete the game with a touchscreen is probably also brave enough to succeed. ;)

    1. I don't know. Maybe try asking on some of the TR forums (Square Enix, TRF). I'll bet others have tried it. If I hear anything, I'll try to remember to post here.

    3. I got a Bluetooth controller and tr2 recognised without any input, and it works a treat

    4. Thanks for the info, Brian. I don't know if you'll see this, but I'm curious what type of controller you bought. It would be great to have a reliable recommendation for other players.

  3. It looks like TR2 was pulled from Google Play, but the good news is that if you had already bought it, you can still install it on your device. That's a relief!

    1. I was bummed when that happened, especially since TR3 never saw the light of day, but you're absolutely correct.
