$10,000 Raised for Children's Hospitals, Thanks to You!
Congratulations to the Tomb Raider Community Extra Life team and many thanks to our generous supporters! Last weekend's Twitch marathon was a huge success. Together we raised more than $10,000 for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across the U.S. and Canada.
If you missed the marathon, it's not too late to support this great cause. We're still accepting donations through the end of the year. Wondering where your money goes?
If you donate through my Extra Life page, your money goes to San Jorge Children & Women's Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Between the COVID-19 pandemic, 2020 earthquakes, and the lingering impact of Hurricane Maria in 2017, these kids still need help to heal, grow, and thrive!
Even if you are unable to donate, I hope you'll help spread the word and check out the Team's annual Extra Life raffle for a chance to win a gorgeous Lara Croft 25th Anniversary statue by Weta Workshop. Anyone can enter, but donors unlock bonus raffle entries. This giveaway runs through November 30. The winner will be announced in early December.
Thank you for your generosity and good luck if you enter!

Mummy Movie Party This Saturday, April 10
It's time for another community livetweet! Join me Saturday, April 10, at 10 am EDT (3pm UK time). This time we'll be watching The Mummy—the orginal 1999 action-adventure starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz.
In case you missed our previous movie parties, here's how it works: Everyone will start watching the movie on their own device at the same time. (See below.) Live chat will be via Twitter. Follow the hashtag #MummyMovieParty and be sure to include this tag in your posts so we'll all be able to see what you type. You might also want to use the popular tags #TheMummy1999 and/or #WeLoveBrendanFraser, but #MummyMovieParty will help us see each other and avoid overlap with motherhood-related tags.
I will be online at least an hour before the party starts, so if you have questions/issues, you can message me (@stellalune), and of course, you're welcome to contact me before then.
Since the film is available in different formats with slightly different run times, here's how we'll sync our viewing:
If you don't already own the film, it's on Amazon and Hulu with the HBO Max add-on, or you can rent it on YouTube, Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, etc. If you're having trouble finding it, let me know.
TIME ZONES:
Start time is 10am Eastern Daylight Time (USA). If you're not sure what that is in your local time, try worldtimebuddy.com or your favorite time zone app. I know it's a little early/late for some people, but I tried to find a good compromise.
TWITTER TIPS:
Twitter hashtags are not case sensitive, so #MummyMovieParty, #mummymovieparty, and #muMMyMoviepaRty are all the same. Again, be sure to include this tag in each post so everyone following the tag will see it.
Feel free to express your opinions, but please be courteous. Snarky comments about the film can be fun, and it's OK to disagree with other viewers, but personal attacks, rudeness, etc., are not cool. If you don't want to see a particular person's posts, you can mute or block them. See Twitter help for details.
If you're using the Twitter website, rather than the app, you might want to try Tweetdeck. You can set up a column for the #MummyMovieParty hashtag that will scroll automatically as people post. You'll see tweets in order and you won't have to refresh the page. If you need help with Tweetdeck, let me know in advance. I'm happy to assist but I may not have time right before the party.
I look forward to seeing you there. Imhotep! 🤘

- Queue up the movie, play through any previews and opening titles. Then as soon as the "Universal" title fades into a shot of a blazing sun, press PAUSE.
- At exactly 10am EDT (3pm UK time), we'll all press PLAY.

Tomb Raider Developers Plan to Unify Classic, Legend, and Survivor Timelines in Next Game and Animated Series
Crystal Dynamics has revealed some ambitious plans for 2021, the 25th anniversary of the Tomb Raider series, the biggest bombshell being that the next game will unify the separate timelines of the Classic, Legend, and Survivor eras. Fans will have plenty of time to speculate about how they'll manage this feat, as the next game will not be announced any time soon. Meanwhile, a new mobile game and animated series are in the works, and the TR25 celebration kicks off this month with a look back at the original 1996 Tomb Raider. Check out this video for additional details.
A quick recap of what we know as of February 1:
Netflix and Legendary Television will be teaming up to produce a Tomb Raider animated series set after the Survivor trilogy. Details are still sparse, but Tasha Huo has been brought on as writer and showrunner. Her previous credits include Child of Light and The Witcher: Blood Origin.
Tomb Raider Reloaded, announced in November 2020, is a free-to-play action/arcade game developed by Emerald City Games and published by Square Enix London Mobile. A release date has not yet been announced. If you haven't already seen the teaser trailer, you'll find it on the Square Enix YouTube channel. A quick YouTube search will also turn up various gameplay previews.
Thanks to the pandemic, there hasn't been much forward movement on the upcoming Tomb Raider movie sequel, but Alicia Vikander has signed on again as Lara Croft. Director Ben Wheatley was originally attached to the project, but news surfaced last week that Misha Green (Underground, Lovecraft Country) will take the helm.
New Zealand-based special effects and prop company Weta Workshop has announced plans for a Tomb Raider 25th Anniversary statue. Details have not been announced, but this concept art released back in October shows a classic-inspired Lara battling prehistoric raptors.
For all the latest Tomb Raider news and nostalgic TR25 content, follow the official Tomb Raider social media accounts and check out Square Enix's Tomb Raider 25-Year Celebration site, which will be featuring one game each month, starting with the original Tomb Raider in February.
Edit: Added Weta statue info and link to the new Square Enix site 2/2/21.

Thank You, Extra Life Suporters!
I was worried that with a pandemic on, people would not be able to support the Tomb Raider Community's Extra Life fundraising efforts this past year, but it turns out just the opposite was true. Together we raised $8,583 for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, making 2020 our most successful Extra Life ever.
I look forward to the day when the United States has universal healthcare and fund drives like Extra Life are no longer necessary, but until that day, I'll do my best to make sure this community does its part.
Thanks to everyone who participated, donated, shared our links, watched our streams, entered our raffle, and helped in any way, large or small. I wish you all a happy and safe New Year!
(P.S. If anyone would like to sign on to play with the team in 2021, visit the Tomb Raider Community Extra Life page and check out this FAQ for details.)
