New Sister Site: Stella's Tomb Raider Cosplay

Happy Friday, everybody! Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I've been absorbed in a new project, which I can finally tell you all about. In addition to my walkthroughs, I've just launched a new web site devoted to Tomb Raider cosplay at tombraidercosplay.net.

To celebrate the grand opening, I'll be giving away some fun Tomb Raider prizes. Contest details are on the new site. I hope you'll check it out and let me know what you think.

UPDATE: Sadly, this site didn't last too long. It soon became clear that I had overextended myself and didn't have time to maintain both the cosplay and walkthrough sites. So tombraidercosplay.net is now closed. I encourage all cosplayers and cosplay fans to check out laracroftcosplay.com instead. It's a great site with tons of resources for both accomplished and aspiring cosplayers.

  2. I'm going to be critical and nitpicky here.

The "Welcome to tombraidercosplay.net" makes it look like one of those godaddy parked domain pages (the one with the woman with the backpack smiling over her shoulder). The title that ends in "site" doesn't help this look. This might just be me, but I would advise removing the "Site" in the title and the welcome text in the image.

In most of the reference pages, we're informed that "THIS SECTION IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION. PLEASE PARDON THE BROKEN LINKS." If the link goes nowhere, don't include it all. Just replace with a "(coming soon)" until the page it would go to is ready.

Furthermore, the tag cloud on the Galleries page looks awful thanks to the spacing and the underslashes. If you keep it, add more spacing around each tag and replace underlines with spaces (I can bash together a bit of Javascript for this, if it can't be done server-side).

  3. Anonymous, Thanks so much for the constructive criticism. I really appreciate it. I don't know if you'll read this reply, but if you do, I hope you'll get in touch. I'd love to take you up on your offer to help with the tag cloud. ZenPhoto is limited in the way you can set up your tags. Plus my extremely limited grasp of php doesn't help. I was considering just ditching the tag cloud completely, but if you can help make it look better, that would be awesome.

I know the site name is a little lame, but it kind of follows from my main site name. My only currency in this community is my name, so I figured I'd use it. If you have a better idea for the site title, I'm open.

  4. Hey, I made this script. It's already wrapped in script tags, so just find a way to insert it into the HTML somewhere and it should work.

It won't allow me to post HTML here, so I've stuck it up on Pastebin:

There are some options you can change near the top, I've commented them.

I don't really have a better name for the site- I originally meant just "Stella's Tomb Raider Cosplay" but I see that implies that all the cosplay is yours, so...

  5. Welp, posted that too soon... my padding meddling causes the clickable link areas to overlap. Here's a version that only changes the underslashes and optionally the color:
