Tomb Raider 15th Anniversary Tribute Art Gallery: Choose Your Favorite

As many of you probably already know, Crystal Dynamics marked Tomb Raider's 15th birthday this month with a digital art exhibition featuring the new Lara Croft as envisioned by eight different artists. Some have long-standing ties with the series. Others are new to drawing Lara, but all have impressive credentials.

All eight entries are reproduced here. I encourage you to vote for your favorite in the poll below and leave a comment if you like.

Visit tombraider.com/15 to read about the artists and their inspirations and to download full-size versions of each image in various formats, including standard, widescreen and mobile device wallpapers, as well as square avatars and icons.

"Rebirth" by Andy Park

"The Depths" by Camilla D'Errico

"Wolf Den" by Long Vo

"Shipwreck Beach" by Brenoch Adams

  1. It's difficult to choose just one favorite. They're all great. For me I think it's a tie between Toby's "Kyudo," a lovely tribute to traditional Japanese painting, and JJB's "Profile Pic," for its sense of humor as well as its sense of foreshadowing.

My favourite is Andy Park's "Rebirth". It has been my wallpaper since it was released!!! Not only is the piece itself amazing but I also am a fan of Andy's work (specially his run on Top Cow's Tomb Raider comics), so seeing his take on the new Lara is awesome!

  5. It was really hard for me to choose between "Into the Darkness" and "Kyudo," but the latter won out. I really love the style of it.

  6. I chose between "into the darkness" and Rebirth, simply because Lara looks the most grown up in them. I dislike in particular the ones resembles Japanese manga, that is not Lara, and it never has been. Lara was an adult complex character, until recently.. Still, looking forward to the upcoming game.

  9. For me, First Prize has to go to "Into the Darkness" by Brian Horton, because it's the closest to the released gameplay character. Like some other comments, if I were doing the awards, Second Prize would go to "弓道 Kyudo" (the art of archery) by Toby Gard, for simple, classic style.

  11. Stella, I'm completely with you: those were my pics exactly. Toby's pictorial sense shows us that the original is the best, but that profile pic is so cheeky--I had never thought of Lara doing that, but of course she'd have some social profile, friends, etc.

  13. For me it was a close call between 'Rebirth' and 'Into the darkness.' Finally chose 'Rebirth,' though I have to say all the art is amazing.
