UPDATE: This month-long challenge has officially finished, but you're still welcome to post your comments below at any time. We'd love to hear what you think.
Lara has amassed quite an arsenal over the years, from her iconic dual pistols to the bow she carries in the concept art for the upcoming game. Which weapon is your all-time favorite and why? Which do you dislike? What weapons would you like to see (or see again) in future games?
I love the magnums from TR1--everything about them from the way they look to the challenging timed jumping sequence you have to master in order to get them [http://bit.ly/qsFNMx] to the deep, satisfying bang when they're fired. Of course I'd like to see them return in a future game.
ReplyDeleteI hope they do actually include a bow in the new game. That'll be an interesting change of pace. And if I never see the harpoon gun again, it'll be too soon. ;)
Oh gosh it has the be the Uzis!!!!! :') what great guns, i love the sound of them too ;) haha they were more powerful than i realised aswell haha :) my other best one is the M16 from TR2 or the MP5 from TR3 :) really cool guns which took out enemies quickly and from a long distance :D TBH i like all the guns XD but i like those 3 the best :D Also i agree with you about the harpoon gun Stella XD ;) haha <3
ReplyDeletei love the submachine gun from legend and thors hammer is fun aswell in future i would like to see hmmm does hand to hand combat count as in punches kick as in angel of darkness style also i love the idea of a bow
ReplyDeleteI rather liked the magic gloves from Underworld. However blowing up the wild life with an RPG and seeing chunks of, say - tiger - flying through the air was awesome. I'm also a fan of the original twin "never run of ammo don't need to be aimed properly" Browning pistols. If I wanted to aim the damned things with a sight I'd be playing Resident Evil 4 or Call Of Duty.
ReplyDeleteI meant the magic hammah from Underworld.
ReplyDeleteUzi, Uzi, Uzi!
ReplyDeletedesert eagle. the sound of the shoot makes my adrenaline goes up . love it . and its powerful as well. a shoot your done ma friend
ReplyDeleteI kinda liked the shotguns in the old titles. Always saving ammunation for those babies. But nothing really beats the basic twins. It's so easy to imagine the original Tomb Raider in some downloadable version with the achievement "Beat the game using only the pistols"
ReplyDeletePatience and good luck with the giant mutant!
Mjolnir and Excaliber, I loved the power of them, it was pretty awesome to just wipe out everything in your path.
ReplyDeleteI liked the Desert Ranger from AoD too, actually, I liked most of the weapons from AoD, it's just a shame there wasn't any dual pistols.
Thor's hammer was really fun for trashing everything in sight, but my all-time favorites are the twin pistols. They're reliable, they never run out of ammo, and I've killed more stuff with them than all the other weapons in all the games combined, from rats to T-Rex. And it seems like in nearly every boss fight, after all my more powerful weapons were out of ammo and the fight still wasn't over, it was always the pistols I finished with. And as far as the harpoon gun, I say nuts to that thing as well.
ReplyDeletefirst Thor's hammer
ReplyDeletesecond Excalibur
third shotgun and ofc dual pistols
My favourite guns are the Automatic Pistols in TR2. They are an upgrade/modification of the original Magnums but they have an interesting shape and the guns are less noisy but more deadly than the regular pistols. I also like the M16 and the TR4 design of the Dual Pistols.
ReplyDeleteI really dislike the Grenade Launcher from TR3. I rarely used it since the grenades took A LONG time to explode.
I would like to see in a future game not any particular weapon but a wide range. I love to have the choice to use many many many weapons, like in TR3, or best, the recent Guardian of Light.
I like Lara's standard pistols from Legend/Underworld the most.
ReplyDeletePistols! I've always made it a personal challenge to
ReplyDeletecomplete games (when possible) using only pistols.
At the end I always have a huge inventory of unused
ammo and med packs. :)
The Uzis too, are pretty rocking!
Uzi's from the classic games should make a return, not the Underworld, or aniiversary uzi's. The classic ones are better. I hate most of the Underworld weapons. Annoying to use.
ReplyDeleteI actually like the Desert Eagle. Its solid and kills a croc or a bad guy with just one shot. Its powerful and works great the first time. I like that instead of firing away with the pistols, and isn't unweildy like a rifle. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite weapon is a toss-up between the iconic pistols and the Desert Eagle from TR3. I friggin' loved that thing :) My reward to myself for completing a playthrough without cheats was to go back and do it all again with the Desert Eagle on hand for everything. Made life a breeze!
ReplyDeleteLeast favorite: harpoon gun. I was always a bit ticked that it was absolutely necessary in some areas of the first games. Being able to fire the pistols underwater in Underworld made me happy, although the reincarnation of the harpoon gun in that one felt a little better to use.
My all time fav would be the Uzi guns,I like them because they have a fast fire rate thus dealing with enemy quickly.I dislike the MP-5 because its so fricken slow IMO!
ReplyDeletemagnums, and uzi. shotgun too. oh! and the grenade launcher for TR2
ReplyDeleteI loved the Desert Eagle and the M-16
ReplyDeleteAnd I so incredibly hated the Harpoon!!!
Has to be the Desert Eagle!
ReplyDeleteI directly fell in love & got obsessed with "the Shotgun" at first sight! It was back in TR1 & TR2 times.
ReplyDeleteMy second beloved one -- or two -- would be the Uzis, especially Silver Uzis in TR Anniversary (my previous laptop couldn't even afford the firing rate!). Gotta love the rattling!
I also like Desert Eagle. A shotgun-power in a pistol-sized gun is just lovely.
Last but not least, always there most of the times, the Twin Pistols!
Either the Desert Eagle or the Crossbow from TR4, equipped with laser sight.
ReplyDeleteI love picking off enemies from far away... maybe because I am a coward :)
I get a kick out of saving ammo and killing off a big enemy with the default twin pistols, so I guess those would be my fave.
ReplyDeleteI also found the harpoon annoying.

ReplyDeleteFavorite: Crossbow, Grenade Launcher and Desert Eagle!
ReplyDeleteLeast favorite: Harpoon
The bazooka, hands down. The classic TR games were great because it left a lot of interpretation up to the player. You got to really use your imagination to visualize the game. Something about Lara with a giant tube on her shoulder shooting lethal rockets across the rooftops of London is...crazy awesome!
ReplyDeleteDual pistols - you can always count on them. :) You can also use them as a flare if you don't have many left :D But I also love uzis, shotgun, MP5..and grenade launcher is fun too :)
ReplyDeleteI use the pistols any and every chance that I get when it won't result in my untimely death. There's nothing better than unlimited ammo on those bad boys.
ReplyDeleteUzis, duh. The fact that you had to find the floating invisible platforms to get them in TR1, while fighting off flameball mutants was so satisfying. Also, the Desert Eagle from TR3. Without that thing, I would have never defeated Dr. Willard.
I agree about the harpoon gun. The only time I ever used it was if I couldn't find a place to climb out of the water and shoot scuba divers with my pistols.
Mjölnir is my favourite :p
ReplyDeleteRocket Launcher and grenade gun are my Top 2 favourite guns.
ReplyDeletewhenever i play the 3 TR games i ALWAYS go on a raging explosive rampage, killing everybody in sight.
Duel Pistols because they have unlimited ammo, the bow from Survivor [2013] because it's silent, and Excalibur and Thor's hammer because they're so powerful.
ReplyDeleteWell, the dual pistols are great just because they never run out of ammo. I like the bow from Survivor because I can be stealthy with it, but Thor's Hammer and Excalibur are so powerful! They get the prize together.
