Tomb Raider Book Bonanza Grand Prize Winners

At last the month-long competition has come to a close. Congratulations to Igor C. (angelus0901) from Croatia and Laura P. (TRtbn21) from New Mexico, USA, who posted entries here on the blog. They'll each receive a copy of the fabulous The Art of Tomb Raider two-volume set.

I almost didn't believe my eyes when Igor's screenname came up in the drawing on Random.org, since he also won in the first and third week's drawings. But there's absolutely no way to rig a random public drawing, so all I can think is that he's one lucky guy.

Igor generously gave up one of his other prizes to another participant. So now we have an alternate winner for week 3 as well. Max28, who entered by email, wins the Tomb Raider Tankobon comic collection. Congrats, Max!

The random drawing details for the entire contest can be viewed at Random.org.

The Art fo Tomb Raider

Once again, I'd like to thank everyone who participated. It's been so much fun reading all your brilliant ideas. I don't know whether the Tomb Raider developers pay any attention to our little blog, but I hope they'll take a look and be inspired.

Several of you mentioned that you'd miss these weekly discussion topics. I will too, but I really hope it doesn't end here.

The whole point of the contest—aside from giving away some cool stuff—was to encourage more people to join the discussion. I've been working on this blog for almost a year now and people just haven't seemed that interested. I thought if I lured them in with the promise of goodies, they might want to stick around and continue the discussion afterward. I hope at least a few of you will.

I guess the trick is to include more posts where I specifically ask for people's opinion. I've tried to do that sometimes, but when only one or two people comment, I feel like I'm talking to myself. ;) I'll continue to strategize and hopefully come up with new ideas—and more contests in the future.

Meanwhile, you've all had such great ideas for the games. How about the blog? What would you like to see here? What topics would you like to discuss? Please let me know.

  1. I still can't believe I won!!! Thank you so much, Stella. And of course Random.org - that site loves me!! ;)
I just want to say that I really enjoyed these past 4 weeks. They were really special to me. I never win anything and to win something like "The Art of Tomb Raider" is such an amazing thing. To be one of the 2000 that will have this perfect set of books... I just can't believe it.
While I'm really happy, I'm also terrified cause I have a feeling I'm gonna wake up any second...
Anyway, again, thank you so much Stella. And congratulations to TRtbn21 and Max28!! ;)

  2. Congrats to the winners!

It's definitely difficult getting people to respond to blog content... I myself am guilty of silently lurking in the shadows of your sites, enjoying the content without providing any feedback :x

Personally, I'm still fired up about the whole Level Editor idea. If only we could draw CD's attention to that particular conundrum...

  4. Congratulations you guys! I'm very happy for you. I was waiting on this computer and refreshing the main page every ten minutes from twelve to two, when I realized the contest winners had already been posted on Random.org. I must admit, I am VERY jealous, but happy all the same because, (not only did I win week 3) we've all become part of the ever-growing tomb raider community. So good job Stella for the GREAT ideas in enhancing the Tomb Raiding World! It's because of people like you that the spirit of Lara Croft is what it is! And I hope you guys enjoy those books!

    -A Final Book Bonanza Regards,
    Hunter Wolfe

  5. Yep. Totally jealous, but so glad that there is more attention to your blog, Stella! Good on Igor for passing on an earlier prize, too. Very kind indeed. I'm alerted everytime there's an update now, so looking forward to following your posts :) I think some TRII will be my summertime diversion...

  6. Congratulations to the winners! Your contest was a fun one. It is hard to keep discussions going when there is not a game that is new, hot, changing whatever imminent. I'm sure you have a good readership in any case. Your other venues for discussion probably take some of the discussion out of this one. I think each has its own purpose. Blogs by nature are typically like online diaries where you ramble your thoughts and people can but don't necessarily comment.
Here are things I'd like to hear, since you ask:
How did you get started playing Tomb Raider? Was it your first game? How did the site develop? Have any good stories about Eidos over time? What do you think of playing Lara on XBox rather than pc? What else do you play? What games do you recommend to other Tomb Raider fans? What do you look for in a game? There ya go.

  8. Hi Stella,
regarding your question on what topics we want to hear, I wanna hear your opinion on tomb raider angel of darkness...
I mean everyone says it was the worst game in the series but I think it's one of the best!
And where do you stand on the idea of bringing Kurtis back.. not as a playable character but for future stories...
    Thanks!
