Play Tomb Raider 1 in HD with Glidos – Free

The developer of Glidos is offering the program free for a limited time. Just visit glidos.net, sign up for a free account, and then follow the instructions to download and install the program.

In case you're not familiar with Glidos, it's a utility that provides Glide emulation for DOS, allowing games like the original Tomb Raider and the Unfinished Business expansion to run in higher detail on modern computers. Features include:

  • Support for the GOG and Steam versions of Tomb Raider
  • Supports high-resolution textures (with optional texture packs from Tomb Raider Xtra)
  • Restores PlayStation quality to the Full Motion Video cutscenes (with optional FMV pack)
  • Restores full PlayStation audio tracks (with optional audio pack)
  • Supports True3D via 3D monitors or red/blue anaglyph glasses

Glidos also works with various other popular DOS games, including Descent II, Redguard, Carmageddon, Extreme Assault, Grand Theft Auto, Dreams to Reality, Blood, Screamer 2, and Red Baron.

If you try Glidos and end up loving it as much as I do, you can show your support by spreading the word or making a PayPal donation through the Glidos site.

  3. Hi! Now Glidos is not for free, and is a very beatiful program to play Tomb Raider, but I hate the Glidos logo spinning in lara, so I can't pay now. I looked to the screenshot of the comparation before and after Glidos, and I'd like to play TR as the classic version. How to play TR without classic DOS pixels (with classic textures), without Glidos and in a Windows x64 version, as the screenshot in left?

    1. Are you sure? I still see the Free Glidos account link on on the glidos.net home page. There is also a page with a few other options on my site at http://tombraiders.net/stella/downloads.html#windows

There may also be some newer tools that I'm not aware of. I know some players have been working on importing the iOS textures into the PC version, but I'm not sure where to find that. I will ask around. Meanwhile, maybe try googling or check in the tech support sections of some of the TR forums.

    2. Thanks! I'm fool, i'm not looked the link. And for the screenshot, it seems that Tomb Raider is the Steam/GoG edition. I'm realize it when I looked a Tomb Raider video-walkthrough (also there is a walkthrough in spanish). He said that Tomb Raider is bought in Steam.
I will try to play all of the classic Tomb Raider games!
