Archaeology of Tomb Raider Interview

Me in July 2014
I recently completed a fun Q&A with one of my favorite blogs, The Archaeology of Tomb Raider. I hope you'll have a look. If you agree or disagree with any of the points I made, please leave a comment on their site. While you're at it, be sure to check out the rest of the fan interviews and the other fascinating articles about the locations, artifacts, and ancient cultures featured in the Tomb Raider games and movies.

So, tell us a little about yourself.

I'm Stella and I live in upstate New York, about 100 miles north of New York City. I'm in my 40's and married, with a soon-to-be 21-year-old son. I run several walkthrough sites. You may be familiar with Stella's Tomb Raider Site, though I also have guides for LEGO Indiana Jones and Space Colony. I'm addicted to social media in its myriad forms, and I struggle against my couch-potato nature every blessed day.

When and how did you learn about the Tomb Raider series?

If you follow my site, you've probably heard this story before. Shortly after the original game was released, a friend of my husband's gave him a copy....

  1. Archaeology Interview - An excellent summary of your involvement with TR. A bit like TR 2013 is for Lara.

I started with TR at about the same time, but, unlike you, I didn't do anything with it for the wider community.

    Keep it up ;-)

  2. Just read your interview and I agree you about Tomb Raider 2013. While I enjoyed, it was not a traditional Tomb Raider experience. The actual tombs were optional! Too many QTEs. I felt like the Crystal Dynamics forgot what Tomb Raider was really about.

    1. Thanks, Gabriel. I know a lot of players loved the last TR, and there certainly were aspects of it that I really enjoyed. I tried to boil down some complex ideas into a couple of quick answers. Overall, I feel like the TR devs are a bunch of really smart, creative people, so I'm hoping they'll get through these "growing pains," along with Lara herself, and give us a real Tomb Raider adventure with all the modern enhancements.
